The Australian Model Railway Association has been developing standards for model railways since 1951. These standards are made available to all members of the Association and are distributed as a part of the “new member kit” as well as being available from the Member’s Area of this site.
As well as the general standards documentation which has existed for many years, the Association is also in the process of developing a whole series of smaller standards documents dealing with specific aspects of the hobby. These documents are intended to supplement or replace sections of our general standards.
The following are those specific standards documents that have been released for use by all Australian modellers and not just those who are members of the Association.
- Fine tolerance wheel and track standard
- Intermediate tolerance wheel and track standard
- Minimum track radius standard
- Clearance and Track Centres
- Carriage Mass
- Free form module standard
A number of further standards documents are currently under consideration by the standards sub-committee and will be added to the AMRA standards in due course. To be able to participate in the development of Australian standards for model railways you will need to be a member of the Association.
