About Our Club

The Australian Model Railway Association Incorporated is usually called AMRA. Our members have an interest in model railways of all shapes and sizes. The aim of the Association is to foster interest in the hobby as well as provide advice and help, and layouts on which to run your trains. AMRA has two branches, one in New South Wales and one in Victoria.

Each branch promotes contact and friendship between members by:

  • holding regular meetings in their Clubrooms,
  • keeping up to date with new ideas and modelling methods,
  • operating a model railway layout on which to run your trains.
  • organizing an annual public exhibition,
  • running model building contests, and
  • contributing to a quarterly national magazine called “Journal“.

Branches

AMRA has branches in New South Wales and Victoria. These were established by groups of members within the Association to provide additional facilities for those members living close enough together to be able to get together and hold regular meetings. Over the years each branch has acquired clubrooms and produced a number of model railways that have been built by members of the branch.

Standards

AMRA has a collection of Resources for its Members on the AMRA Members’ Site. In addition, the Australian Model Railway Association has been developing standards for model railways since 1951. These standards are made available to all members of the Association. These standards documents that have been released for use by all modellers and not just those who are members of the Association.
